The Island Spirit 37 Sanctuary is the most spacious catamaran for its length of any similarly sized catamaran in the world. This is achieved by virtue of the two main bulkheads being some three feet further apart than on any similar boat with a 22’ beam!  The internal volume generated has to be seen to be believed. On stepping into the salon through the companionway doors the visitor will be excused for thinking he or she has stepped aboard a forty foot plus catamaran. This is no idle boast.

And the space created puts many larger catamarans to shame. For here is a yacht that sports a large u-shaped galley with plenty of work surfaces, two refrigerators (one with a small freezer,) a fully equipped chart table with VHF, IPOD and CD sound system, custom DC panel and Xantrex 2500 battery management and Inverter system, and a salon that is large enough to seat six adults in comfort without appearing cramped and confining. A GPS chartplotter and Raytheon gauges—including an Autohelm autopilot—are all at the helm station.

Light and airy - she has six hatches in the salon alone - she is the epitome of relaxed spaciousness and comfort, the true essence of what a cruising catamaran should be. Each stateroom has a wardrobe and lockers and is entirely private and isolated from the other parts of the boat. They all have sufficient port lights to provide a through-draft on warm nights, and windscoops are provided.

Sporting a new main sail and extended bimini top, she sails fast and offers plenty of shade. (Sanctuary underwent an extensive refit in 2010-2011 which included new salon window, bimini, main sail, sail drive shafts, battery combiner, live aboard maintenance and care in 2010-2012.) The cockpit is huge—similar in size to most 43 foot cats at least—and the hot water transom shower is positioned over the large (room for two!) sugar scoops so you can shower hands free!
